SERVICE & INSPECTIONS

Servicing

Whether you own or operate cranes, lifting or hoisting equipment, you need to ensure that they are safe and in compliance with the Occupation Health and Safety Act section 18 of 1993 driven machinery. That is where our crane, hoisting and lifting equipment inspections assist you in achieving this.

As a leading service provider, we are accredited to perform conformity assessments, as well as statutory and voluntary inspections on cranes, hoisting and lifting equipment across South Africa. We can also provide training for operators of cranes and elevating platforms in accordance with local and international standards.

With Stahl's Mobile Servicing app, we will have the power to set up recurring scheduled maintenance tasks triggered by either date intervals, meter readings, event and even specified alarm-based triggers and have the CMMS automatically notify you of any upcoming work.

Our crane, hoisting and lifting equipment inspection services include:


  • Checking of brakes, clutches, sheaves, and wire rope assemblies
  • Design studies and calculation reviews
  • Toping up with oil, cleaning, greasing and checking the operation of the electrical and mechanical working parts of the units
  • Inspection of all the structural load bearing members, including sheaves
  • Checking crane girders, rails and columns of overhead cranes to assure structural integrity
  • Inspection on load hooks for cracks and visual distortions
  • Operational tests to assure that your unit is functioning properly

If your lifting asset is found to be unsafe the unit will be locked out and taken out of service and handed over to the responsible person for repairs. Necessary repairs will be done before the unit can be load tested and certified safe for use.

LOAD TESTING AND CERTIFICATION

Load testing and inspection of overhead cranes is required by Occupation Health and Safety Act section 18 of 1993 driven machinery standards and manufacturers. It is the purpose of the annual condition inspection to ensure that the overall structural, mechanical and electric components of the equipment have been maintained in a safe and serviceable condition and are functioning properly according to the original equipment manufacturers specifications.

It is the purpose of the load test to ensure by actual overloading that the equipment is capable of safely lifting and moving the rated load through all designed motions.
